Cantina Mesa began in 2004 as the fulfillment of the dream of its founder Gavino Sanna, the most celebrated name in Italian advertising. Sanna wanted to create something as extraordinary, unique and simple as his beloved Sardinia, on the island for the island.
Located in Sant’Anna Arresi on a hillside carved out by the winds and surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea, Cantina Mesa rises up on high, overlooking the gently rolling hills toward the Porto Pino Valley, the low-lying farmsteads known in the local dialect as “medaus” and the coves of the Porto Pino peninsula.
The soul of the winery is revealed in its name: Mesa in Sardinian means ‘table’, nourishment, maternal love, sharing a meal with friends, simplicity and the scents of Sardinia.
The Cantina Giovanni Rosso is located in Solicchiata, Castiglione di Sicilia. The farm is situated a few kilometers before Passopisciaro down to Montedolce, a small inactive crater that gives its name to the Contrada. We are on the northeast side of the volcano, an area perfectly suited for producing red wines. The new holdings extend over fourteen hectares in one single plot, of which just over six hectares are dedicated to viticulture: 1.2 ha for the whites and 5.5 ha for the reds (Carricante and Nerello Mascalese with small percentages of other local grape varieties, as the tradition requires). The training system has been renamed as “candelabro”.
